Introduction
One of Nepal’s most unusual visitor attractions is not a palace, temple or purpose-built gallery, but the fuselage of a commercial airliner. The aircraft’s final landing
The museum’s centrepiece began life as a Turkish Airlines Airbus A330-300. In March 2015, while landing at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, the aircraft veered off the runway and came to rest on soft ground. For most large passenger aircraft, such an accident marks the end of the story. Airframes are commonly dismantled for spare parts or recycled for their metal. Converting the fuselage into galleries
Moving a wide-body airliner from an airport to a museum site was a major engineering exercise.
